Dr. Wallach starts todays show discussing a recent research study on antioxidant vitamins.  The meta-analytical study looked at the data from several other studies and found no link between anitoxidant vitamin supplements and longevity.  Doc disagrees and points out several deficiencies in the study.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a report put out by the Associated Press.  For the report  the AP looked at the FDA's own records of food inspectors and inspections.  After the 911 terrorist attack Congress mandated the FDA to step up inspections of food sources.  In the 2003 there was an upward spike of both inspections and the number of inspectors in the field.  Between 2003 and 2006 the number of food inspections dropped 47%.  While inspections of U.S.-produced foods dropped 75% in the same time frame.
