Monologue

Nurse JoAnn Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.   JoAnn discusses what she calls the "Medicalization of Everyday Life".  Meaning that the medical industry is moving into the everyday life of many people.  In the aspect of people running to the doctor or hospital for every small sniffle or discomfort.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and JoAnn Conaway discuss a recent study that found drugs ads might actually be negatively affecting people's lives.  The study found that 85% of drug ads emphasized gaining control of some aspect of life.  A separate survey found that most doctors will prescribe drugs that aren't appropriate just because the patient asked for the drug.
