Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing a recent report that states cancer deaths have dropped significantly two years in a row. Experts are claiming this is due to better treatments and earlier diagnosis. Doc disagrees citing that is the increased use of antioxidant compounds.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss news stories concerning common germs. A recent British survey found that people believe the medical milestone since 1840 was "sanitation". Basic cleanliness out paced the discovery of DNA, antibiotics and anesthesia. On the same time Doug found article about a hospital closing an entire ward because 3 patients had contracted MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) in the hospital. Doug also discusses recent research that discovered a strain of staph that produces a toxin (Panton Valentine leukocidin) that can cause toxic shock syndrome, necrotizing pneumonia and even death within 72 hours.
