Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning the practice of "pay for delay" employed by big drug companies.  This "pay for delay" is used by bigh companies that market the brand name drugs and then pay smaller companies to keep generic cheaper versions off the market.  The U.S. Federal Trade Commision contends this practice causes consumers, insurance companies and the goverment to spend an extra $3.5 billion every year.  Even more money could be saved if generic versions expensive biotechnology drugs were allowed but the FDA won't allow it.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the case of the 14 year old South Carolina boy who was taken from his mother by the state because he weighed 555 pounds.  Doc has spoken with the mother's attorney regarding the boy's healthcare.  As he contends the state will probably try to make him undergo some sort of stomach bypass or banding surgery.  He also outlines all of the negative side effect associated with these procedures.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach talk about a news article concerning socialized or nationalized healthcare.  The story outlines the plight of a Canadien woman who was diagnosed with a brain tumor but could not get the "nationalized" system in Canada to let her see a specialist in a timely fashion.  She eventually had to seek care in the U.S. at her own cost that required she and her husband take out a second mortgage and borrow from friends and family.

Dr. Wallach starts the show reading quotes from Dr. Benjamin Rush who warned of limiting the art of healing to one class of men.  Reading this in reference to the fact that only MD's (medical doctors) are recognized by government and insurance companies in most states in the U.S.  Doc asserts that people should educate themselves and become more aware of their own healthcare.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two news stories that illustrate more reasons to try and stay out of the medical industry.  The first concerns a man who went to a clinic to get a prostate biopsy and instead got a vasectomy.  Second they discuss a story regarding a surgical technician that was taking the patients fentanyl and injecting herself then substituting the syringe with a used one full of saline solution.  She had already previously tested postive for hepatitis C which she contracted sharing needles while using heroin.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news story concerning a medical mistake. Three years ago in Florida a woman was stabbed in the head. She went to the ER and was stiched up and sent home. Since that incident she's complained of chronic headaches. Returning to the hospital and simple x-ray revealed a piece of the knife blade was still in her jaw.

Dr. Wallach starts the show today talking about the death of Dr. O. Carl Simington the inventor of the mind, body and spirit movement in regards to good health.  Doc also discusses the great business opportunities available through Youngevity.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach revisit a topic from earlier in the week.  Discussing the ruling by the FDA's advisory panel on the safety of drugs containing acetaminophen.  The panel is advising the FDA to pull prescription combination drugs like Vicodin and Percocet off the market because of overdose concerns.  However, the are leaving over-the-counter combinations like NyQuil, Pamprin and Allerest on the market.  They also recommended lowering the doses of products like Tylenol.
