The victim of a 65-foot fall near Davenport, New Years Eve, had local ties. 21-year-old Patrick Parnell, and two companions were walking the cliffs when the ground gave and Parnell fell to his death. Parnell who attended high school in Scotts Valley, has parents in Soquel, was on the way to Santa Cruz for the New Years Eve celebration. Alcohol may have played a role in the accident. The results of a toxicology test are pending.
