A LOT THAT LIES JUST NORTH OF THE ODWALLA BUILDING ON HIGHWAY ONE, IN DAVENPORT, HAS BECOME AN OVERNIGHT CAMPSITE FOR THE HOMELESS. THE INFLUX BEGAN MONTHS AGO, AS DOZENS OF CAMPERS BEGAN USING THE LOT THAT SITS ON A BLUFF OVERLOOKING THE OCEAN. CAMPERS ALLEGEDLY ARRIVE TO STAY THE NIGHT, THEN HEAD OUT IN THE MORNING. MANY OF THE LOCALS AND BUSINESS OWNERS SAY THAT THE CAMPERS CONTRIBUTE TO LITTER PROBLEMS AND WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE OWNERS INITIATE SECURITY PATROLS AROUND THE AREA. THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION, CALTRANS AND LAND TRUST OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY HAVE RECENTLY BECOME INVOLVED IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE.
