The CZU Lightning Fires have added to numbers of homeless in Santa Cruz County. The county has been working on housing solutions in order to stop the Covid spread in the homeless community when the fires added thousands to the temporarily homeless. There are now 27 county sanctioned homeless encampments, including the Benchlands encampment near the county building, and are also providing motel vouchers for displaced families.
