CZU August Lightning Complex fires, burning near the Santa Cruz – San Mateo county line, have charred about 1,000 acres so far. They were caused by lightning strikes yesterday, and the largest of those wildfires is burning in the Butano Creek Drainage Area. These fires include the Waddell Fire, the 5-14 Fire, the 5-15 Fire, and the 5-18 Fire….as well as all other area fires that are under 5 acres in size. 350 firefighters are working to quell these blazes.
