A clinical trial for a vaccine that could protect against the new coronavirus is slated to kick off today (Monday) when the first patient receives an experimental dose.
While this is a step forward in combating the pandemic, public health officials state that it could take anywhere up to a year and a half, possibly longer, to fully validate a new vaccine upon successful testing.
These shots don’t contain the virus itself as researchers would like to check for possible side effects related to this vaccine.
These trials are taking place at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute in Seattle.
