(08:00) Ben Lomond – A couple was arrested last night in Ben Lomond after they led deputies on a short car chase. Deputies reported that they attempted to pull over a vehicle on Highway 9, near San Lorenzo Valley High School. The driver, Jason Shoemaker, failed to stop and a car chase ensued. The passenger, Kelsey Lemon, was seen discarding items from the truck, including a loaded handgun and narcotics. Shoemaker eventually came to a stop in Ben Lomond. He was arrested for possessing a loaded firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, destruction of evidence and DUI. Lemon was arrested for destruction of evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were booked into the Santa Cruz County Jail.
