The Salinas city council voted on Saturday to make ray corpuz the new city manager. The 4 to 3 vote came after appeals from the dissenters to name salinas deputy city manager jim pia to the post, or start the recruitment process over. The vote gives the office to corpuz, the city manager for seaside. pia is set to return to his role as deputy.
