A law that came into affect this year that gives the public the right to know why a police officer was fired… is exposing some bad behavior by former local cops.
Officer david gunther, formerly of the santa cruz police department was dismissed for reportedly fondling four women in 2017… all four female victims worked for the department.
In capitola… sgt. Rene mark gonzales resigned in august after an investigation revealed he was sending hundreds of in-appropriate texts and photos to a young police volunteer from 2017 to 2018. Gonzales also apparently sent a photo of himself wearing only a wet spandex garment to a group of local young people pursing a career in law enforcement.
