North Carolina Congressman Walter Jones died Sunday at the age of 76, and shortly thereafter, local Congressman Jimmy Panetta, released the following statement:
“I am saddened to hear of the passing of my colleague, Congressman Walter Jones. We worked together on the House Armed Services Committee; his kindness and welcoming nature was felt by us all. He was a great, principled man and dedicated public servant. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Walter Jones, who was said to be a “man of the people, who will long be remembered for his honesty, faith and integrity” served in the North Carolina Congress for more than 34 years.
