a man was found trapped under a pallet wrapping machine by fellow workers.  the accident was reported at around 8:30 p-m friday, at a business believed to be growers ice off of abbot and growers streets.  the man was pronounced dead at the scene.  his identity is being withheld pending notification of family.  the mans co workers were interviewd and offered counseling.  apparently there were no witnesses to the accident.

kids playing in the continental little league, in salinas could have baseball practice and games interrupted.   the league’s storage building was broken into and approximaetly 3 thousand dollars worth of equipment was stolen.   the theives made off with  uniforms,  gloves, balls, bats, maintenance tools,  and a sound system.  the storage unit was also heavily damaged.

the santa cruz civic auditorium was the venue for the 61st annual santa cruz gem and mineral show.    the event featured a wide variety of rocks, minerals, and fossils.   there were also gift items for sale, as well as jewelry and lapidary supplies. there was an educational section for children.    hundreds of  rock hounds from all over the country showed up at this years event

THERE WAS A FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION SATURDAY NIGHT IN SOUTH MONTEREY COUNTY.     THAT AFTER A MOTORCYCLE COLLIDED WITH A CAR ON METZ ROAD (BETWEEN KING CITY AND GREENFIELD) AT ABOUT 7:40 P-M.   THE MOTORCYCLIST WAS WAS DECLARED DEAD AT THE SCENE.    THE ACCIDENT REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION BY THE C-H-P .
