Armed marijuana (residential) robbery 09/13/12 7:30p.m. TDH

A group of men broke into a morgan hill home Thursday- morning and tied up the residents, before stealing marijuana plants from the backyard.  Between 4 to 6 suspects came into the house on hale avenue at 7:15 a.m.   they bound 3 residents at gunpoint, and fled with the plants in several vehicles.  Those vehicles were described as a 2000s light colored Toyota sequoia, a 2000s brown chevy suburban, and a black Volvo sedan with black rims.    santa clara county sheriff’s detectives are investigating the case.

Carjacking arrest 09/13/12 7p.m. TDH

Salinas police have made an arrest in connection with the armed carjacking of a man at a salinas car wash.  The victim was washing his car Monday night on the 11-hundred block of east alisal street, when a man demanded his wallet and keys at gunpoint.  On Wednesday, officers arrested  19-year-old esteven regalado for the crime.  He was booked into monterey county jail for robbery and carjacking.

 

attempt burglary 09/13/12 6:30 p.m. TDH

A man was arrested in salinas thursday following an attempted residential burglary.  Miguel angel Vasquez was arrested near the 2-hundred block of cross avenue, where he had attempted to break into a house.  Vasquez was already on probation.  He was booked into mco jail on multiple charges.

Emergency drill—monterey 09/13/12 7:15p.m. TDH

An emergency drill was conducted by multiple agencies in monterey on Wednesday.  The drill on the presidio of monterey involved a scenario in which a chemical bomb failed to explode, leaking gas into the area.  students at monterey institute of international studies were asked to “shelter in place” during the exercise, which also involved a hostage rescue simulation at the monterey coast guard station.  The monterey county sheriff’s department, u-s coast guard, the army, monterey county health authorities, and several area fire and police departments all participated in the drill.

 

Soledad to have public works crew 09/13/12 6p.m. TDH

The city of soledad is changing course on a plan to have jail inmates perform maintenance around the city.  soledad mayor fred ledesma first raised objections to the proposal last month.  The city will now hire a public works crew to do cleaning and maintenance at least once a month.
