ex-cop not guilty 09/23/12 10p.m. TDH

a former salinas police officer accused of sexual battery has been found not guilty on all counts.  jesus sanchez had faced 2-charges related to allegations that he abused a woman between 2002 and 2005, (while he was an officer).  after 2 days of deliberations, a monterey county jury cleared sanchez friday.  Sanchez left the salinas police department in 2010.

Trader Joes PB recall 09/23/12 10p.m. TDH

Trader Joe's has announced a voluntary recall of some peanut butter, after tests revealed possible traces of salmonella contamination.  customers are being asked to return or throw away any "creamy salted valencia peanut butter" that they have recently bought.   no illnesses have been reported in connection with the voluntary recall.

SC Stabbing 09/23/12 10p.m. TDH

A 19-year-old Gilroy man was stabbed in santa cruz friday evening, in what police believe was a gang-related fight.   Santa Cruz police officers were called to beach street and pacific avenue at 6:30 p.m., after receiving reports of a group fight taking place.  2-suspects were located in the area, and were detained for questioning.  the stabbing victim sustained major injuries—he was airlifted to an out of country trauma center to be treated.

cap. subway armed robbery 09/23/12 10p.m. TDH

A 24-year-old santa cruz man was arrested saturday after allegedly robbing a capitola sandwich shop at knifepoint.    jorge diaz is accused of demanding cash from employees at the subway on 41st avenue, before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.  nobody was injured in the incident.  capitola police officers and santa cruz county sheriff's deputies located diaz nearby; he was said to have evidence on him (tying him to the robbery).  diaz was booked into santa cruz county jail.

wanted man arrested (sal) 09/23/12 10p.m. TDH

a 26-year-old wanted man was arrested yesterday(sun) after running from salinas police officers.    officers pulled marcus charles over for a traffic violation, and determined that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for felony burglary.  charles ran from the vehicle, but was apprehended after a search of the area.  charles was booked into monterey county jail.
