Domestic abuse—king city 11/04/12 7a.m. TDH

A 33-year-old king city man was arrested yesterday morning on domestic abuse charges.  benjamine p. roby was taken into custody at a residence on the 44-thousand block of Teague avenue, after he allegedly pushed a woman to the ground during an argument.  Roby was booked into monterey county jail following the 8:24 a.m. incident.  the victim’s injuries were said to be minor, however she did request that roby be arrested.

 

Gas station robbery 11/04/12 TDH

A salinas gas station was robbed at gunpoint last night.   a man wearing a bandana pulled out a gun in the store at 47 john street, and demanded money from the clerk.  The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, and was not immediately located.  Nobody was injured in the robbery.  Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the salinas police department.

 

brush fire—fort ord (seaside) 11/04/12 11:55p.m. TDH

a small fire burned a quarter-acre of brush in the fort ord area sunday morning.  the flames erupted in brush near the sand dunes west of highway-1.   the 6:45 a.m. blaze was contained in about 45 minutes.  no structures were damaged, and nobody was injured—the cause of the fire is under investigation.

new task force (MCO) 11/04/12 11:55p.m. TDH

a new regional law enforcement task force has been formed, in response to on-going crime problems on the monterey peninsula.  the city of seaside became the first city to approve a memorandum of understanding to establish the peninsula regional violence narcotics team.  the team will aim to prevent and control crime around the area, with a focus on narcotics sales.  several law enforcement agonies are expected to participate in the effort, including police departments from around the monterey peninsula, as well as CSUMB police and the california highway patrol.  other city councils are expected to authorize the task force in the coming weeks.

wells fargo community grants 11/04/12 11:55p.m. TDH

wells fargo has continued its latest round of charitable donations by contributing 33-thousand dollars to several santa cruz county non profit organizations.  22 non-profits were selected to receive funds by employees at the bank.  each of the organizations will be awarded 15-hundred dollars to continue their community work.  among the recipients are: the boys and girls club of santa cruz, grey bears, homeless services center, and hospice of santa cruz.
