the c-h-p, investigating a report of a possible car theft in progress arrested 2 men. the officer confronted 2 suspected car THIEVES near the corner of soquel drive and rodeo gulch. 21 year old nicholas colby salvia of soquel and 21 year old brian plympton of aptos, were arrested on drug charges. the incident is under investigation.

the search for the scuba diver missing since sunday MORNING has been called off. the marin county diver’s truck had been noticed unattended in the san carlos beach parking lot. the monterey fire department received the report of missing man at 11 a-m sunday. the search turned up a flashlight in the dive area, it is not known if it BELONGS to the missing diver.

a disabled salinas grandfather was ARRESTED MONDAY, after admitting to assaulting a suspected child molester. 53 year old miguel angel robles was taken into custody for beating 58 year old arturo ibarra. ibarra was air lifted to a san jose trauma center. ibarra is alleged to have molested robles’ GRANDDAUGHTER SUNDAY night. AUTHORITIES are expected to CHARGE IBARRA FOR LEWD and LASCIVIOUS BEHAVIOR when he is released from the hospital.
