Monologue

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the ever increasing cost of healthcare to both employees and employers. The increased cost of doing business in the U.S. is one of the main reasons why many companies are moving their operations over-seas. Doc asserts that employees need to educate themselves about their own health and recommends starting a Youngevity home-based business as a way to off-set increased spending on healthcare.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of news stories. The first is a story about an increase in longevity by Americans the average age is now up to 78 years of age. However, it is well below that of Andorra where the average life span is 83.5. In a related story Doug finds a story from 2004 that indicates the U.S. spent 1.7 trillion dollars (15.3% of gross domestic product) on healthcare and ranked 42nd in health and longevity. While Andorra spent only 96 million on healthcare just 5.9% of their gross domestic product. Obviously this points to the fact that more money spent does not translate into better health and longevity.
