Dr. Wallach starts todays show discussing "New Year's Resolutions".  The top three resolutions always include making more money.  So Doc suggests the Drink A.C.T. energy drink business as a great way to attain that resolution.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss the FDA's recent denial for approval of Merck & Company's try at an over-the-counter cholesterol lowering medication.  An FDA advisory panel has said NO to Merck's bid for a lower dose Mevacor drug for OTC sales.  The panel stating that with there is no need for this product.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a blog written by a medical doctor concerning hand sanitizers. Apparently the is a growing problem of children swallowing these products and becoming extremely ill. The products are usually about 62% alcohol by weight a single 2 ounce container has as much alcohol as 4 shots of vodka. In 2005 the American Association of Poison Control Centers reported nearly 12,000 cases and 6600 have been reported so far this year.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a research study from the University of California at Irvine. The study found that mice given a diet supplemented with DHA (docosahexaenoic acid had lower levels of beta amyloid proteins usually associated with Alzheimer's lesions.
