Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing all of the casualties that occur every year within the medical industry. A total of 15 million people are killed, injured and infected at hospitals, clinics and doctors offices every year in the U.S. Yet no one says anything and no OSHA tickets are written. Which would not be true for any other industry.
Pearls of Wisdom
Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent news article regarding pets. Apparently there is a rising epidemic of type II diabetes in our dogs and cats in America. Some 57% of cats and dogs are over-weight. One out of every 4 to 5 hundred dogs with get diabetes and one out of every 200 cats. The experts quoted in the article assert that being over-weight causes the disease. While Dr. Wallach asserts that it is because of diet. Outlining the fact that most pet foods these days the main ingredients are rice or corn and that is the problem.

Doug Winfrey and Joanne Conaway discuss the news stories regarding the death of Rap star Kanye West's mother Donda. She died a day after under-going cosmetic surgery. The surgeon Dr. Jan Adams denies any responsibility for the death. However, it has now come to light that he has faced multiple malpractice suits. While he is still dealing with the Medical Board of California over two DUI convictions. All of this underscoring the need for patients to not trust their doctors blindly.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent GAO report concerning Medicaid providers. The report states that more than 30,000 Medicaid providers including doctors, hospitals and other health care field entities owe at least $1 billion dollars in back taxes. If this isn't bad enough they are also still receiving payments from Medicaid for their services. Many of those cited in the report are also living in the lap of luxury with expensive cars and million dollar homes.

Dr. Wallach starts todays show discussing the concept of "Do-It-Yourself" medicine. Basically telling the audience that they should become their own "health advocate". Advising people to educate themselves about their own health and to avoid the medical system when possible.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent article written by a doctor. The doctor outlines a recent meeting with a patient prospect who had taken the time to do an on line "Google" search of the doctor and his credentials. The doctor was upset that the patient-to-be had armed herself with information about him and about her condition. In the end the doctor opted to not take her on as a patient refering to her as a "brainsucker".
