Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach. Ben outlines his credentials as a skin care expert asserting that many skin problems are signs of other more serious health challenges. Also outlining various nutritional strategies for combating these health challenges.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a couple of recent research studies on flax seed and ginseng combating cancer. The studies both funded by government agencies were looking for any health benefits from these supplements in treating cancer. The flax seed study found that after taking 30 grams of flax seed for 30 days cancer cell growth was slowed by 30-40% when compared to the control group. In the ginseng study after taking either 1000 mg or 2000 mg daily patients reported fatigue symptoms were "moderately better" or "much better" by 25% and 27% respectively.

Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Ben starts todays show discussing the importance of dietary iodine for good health.  Contending that we don't usually get enough in our foods and that is the reason iodine is added to salt.  However Ben asserts that the form of iodine added isn't very bio-available.  He recommends Youngevity's "Plant Derived Colloidal Minerals".

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a recent bid by Merck & Co. to get a low dose form of Mevacor approved by the FDA for over-the-counter sales.  FDA advisors have recommended it not be approved.  One doctor who wants it approved actually testified before the advisory panel that "you should put this drug in the drinking water".

Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Ben starts the show discussing the upcoming holidays and ways to avoid all of the sugary treats.  Contending that people won't eat as many holiday candies, cookies, cakes and pies if they already feel full.  He asserts that one way to accomplish this is by eating vegatables.  Recommending that people eat cruciferous veggies such as broccoli, kale and brussel sprouts.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a recent CDC report on cholesterol levels.  The report states that for the first time in 50 years average adult cholesterol levels are in the "ideal" range.  Ben disputes the ideal range theory and outlines the importance of cholesterol in out diets.
