Arrest of man who assaulted a child

A Central Coast man has been arrested for sexually abusing a child.

Last Saturday, a Watsonville family contacted Police about the alleged sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl, by a man that was known to her.

Police tracked down and arrested 20-year-old Jonathan Cash in Salinas.

In his possession were videotapes of the alleged assault. Cash is currently in Santa County Jail.

Scotts Valley Exposer

Police released a sketch Wednesday of a man who exposed himself on a bus last week.

About 6:40 Friday evening a man began touching himself on a bus in Scotts Valley.

The man exited the bus near Mount Hermon Road and Whispering Pines. He was not found.

He is described as a Black man about 5 foot 11 inches and weight about 160 pounds. He has tattoos on his arms and wore a blue and white striped shirt.

Grenade found in Seaside

Monterey County Bomb squad was called to a Seaside home.

Police serving a search warrant on the 1200 block of San Pablo Avenue found an active grenade Tuesday afternoon.

Roughly 50 people in the surrounding apartment complex were evacuated as authorities dispose of the grenade.

The person police were searching for was not home and has not been located.

Watsonville home fire

Update: 6/4/13, 6:00 PM

A home in Watsonville caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was first reported around 3pm on the 1200 block of Pajaro Hills drive.

No one was home and fire officials say the fire was small.A mechanical error in a clothes dryer is believed to be the cause.

Local CHP Officer honored

A local CHP officer has been honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

CHP Officer Sarah Jackson received the statewide Hero Award last weekend, for her service educating the public and increasing awareness for Alcohol and drug impaired driving.

Officer Jackson was one of eight CHP officers from across the state to receive the Hero Award and the first from the Santa Cruz area.
