Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article about a study of the spice saffron. The study participants went through vigorous physical exercise some getting a saffron supplement prior. Others in the study were given NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). With a control group getting a placebo during the study. Those getting saffron were pain free for three days following the exercise. Those getting the NSAID reported minor pain at 24 hours and was gone within 72 hours. The control group reported severe pain for three days which peaked at 48 hours. Those getting the saffron also saw no muscle inflammation.Callers
