Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent news story regarding fast food establishments in childrens hospitals.  Out of the 250 childrens hospitals 59 have fast food outlets in the hospital over 30 of those are McDonalds.  Many healthcare professionals believe this sends a mixed message to both parents and children.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a study recently published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine.  The study found that people with a positive outlook got fewer cold viruses than those with a negative outlook.  The positive outlook people also seemed have less severe symptoms than those with a negative outlook.

Doug Winfrey and JoAnne Conaway discuss a recent AC Nielsen poll taken in 42 countries.  The poll found that many people now believe middle age is 60 basically due to the availability and affordability of cosmetic surgery.  Doug also discusses a new cosmetic procedure to fill in wrinkles in the skin.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a new book out titled "The Extreme Future".  In the book the author James Canton contends that people will live to be 120 to 140 years old routinely.  Asserting that this longevity will come about as the result of advances in technology and genetics.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent research study on statin drugs.  The anecdotal study of 7 previous studies found that giving statin drugs to otherwise healthy people offered little protection from dying of a heart attack.
