Dr. Wallach outlines several of the most prevelant health challenges facing Americans.  Suggesting several of the Youngevtiy nutritional supplement products that help people deal with their health challenges.  Doc also discusses several of the educational tools available through Yougevity to help people learn more about these health challenges.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two recent news articles.  The first concerns a CDC report that found in two years (2004 & 2005) over 1500 children were hospitalized due to reactions to over-the-counter cold medicines and cough syrups and three of those died.  The second article regards a survey from the American Cancer Society that found 36% of Americans believe they have no control over their cancer risks.

Dr.  Wallach talks about weight loss and weight gain.  Asserting that people can't lose weight and keep it off because they don't address the root cause.  Doc outlines the various Youngevity products and programs for losing weight.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach dicuss a recent report from the National Academies of Science's Institute of Medicine.  The report states that 7000 people a year die because of mistakes made with prescriptions because of poor or sloppy hand writing.  Dell, Google and Aetna Insurance along with several hospitals are working on a $100 million dollar project to get doctors to use electronic methods such as eRx.

Nurse JoAnn Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  JoAnn discusses a recent news story concerning recent action by the Federal Trade Commision. The FTC fined four marketers of weight loss products. The FTC contending the companies made false unsubstantiated claims that were not backed by science.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and JoAnn Conaway discuss a couple of news stories concerning weight gain.  The first story is regarding research done by the University of Iowa College of Medicine that found adults living with children tend to eat more fats than those not living with children.  The second story outlines data found by Finnish researchers indicating people with pets tend to be heavier, less active and in poorer health than those without pets.
