Monologue

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the recent Iditarod Sled Dog Race.  Outlining how Lance Mackey the winner used 13 of his 16 dogs from the same team of dogs that won the Quest International Sled Dog race just 12 days before.  Making Mackey the first to win both races back to back in the same year.  Asserting that usually following a 1000 mile race the dogs are so banged up the cannot compete any more.  The difference is that Mackey had been giving his dogs Youngevity's "Arthydex" as part of their nutritional plan.  While Mackey himself used Rebound FX to hydrate himself during the race.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of news stories.  The first concerns obestiy surgery and a link to Wernicke encephalopathy a brain disorder caused by a thiamine deficiency.  Next they dicuss another story concerning the "weekend effect" where researchers have found that patients have a higher risk of dying from heart attack or stroke if they are admitted on a weekend.

Nurse JoAnn Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  JoAnn starts the show discussing the relative low ranking of the U.S. in the realm of health and longevity.  Outlining how the U.S. spends more on health care than all of the countries ahead of the U.S.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and JoAnn Conaway discuss a recent news article regarding the FDA's new warning about prescription sleeping pills.  Apparently there have been more than a dozen incidents of people driving, fixing meals, having sex and making phone calls will asleep.   These people also did not remember doing any of the afore mentioned activities.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the fact that over 60% of Americans are over weight and over 30% are obese.  Asserting that this is due to nutritional deficiencies and outlining several Youngevity products that can aid in weight loss.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning research on diabetes.  A study done at Yale University reviewed the data from 88 previous studies and conclusive proof that drinking sugary soft drinks double the risk of getting diabetes.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two recent news articles.  The first concerns cell phones and hospitals.  Hospitals have had a cell phone ban for years a recent study done at the Mayo Clinic found that this policy is groundless.  However, other research has found that 'electronic article surveillance' systems in retail stores do cause problems.  Mainly with implantable devices such as pace makers and cardiac defibrulators.  A second article regarding a dramatic rise in type II diabetes in Asian populations has the medical community worried about an epidemic.

Dr. Wallach discusses the fact that the U.S. ranks 46th among industrialized nations in health and longevity.  Despite the fact that the U.S. spends nearly 75% of the worlds total on health care.  Outlining a recent report that found 15 million Americans are harmed or injured by the medical industry every year.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of recent news stories.  The first story concerns the "weekend effect".  This is a term coined a few years ago when studies found that going to the hospital on weekends increased the risk of death for certain health challenges.  A recent study has found that ischemic strokes can now also be added to that list.  The second story concerns Coca Cola and PepsiCo starting to market "healthy drinks".  Basically sodas with a few nutrients added, but the drinks are still carbonated.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the epidemic of weight gain and obesity in the U.S. Asserting that no matter what type of diets people use they will not be able to lose weight and keep it off. Contending that the root cause of obesity and weight gain is a mineral deficiency.

Billy Graff fills in for Doug Winfrey. He and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent report that teens getting suffering from acne actually have worse breakouts while under stress. They also discuss a study showing babies suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome may be helped by choline suppliments.
