Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing all of the medical mistakes that kill, injure and infect 5.8 million people a year.  Doc asserts that according to a Harvard study 52% of doctors high impaired by drugs or alcohol.   Conending that this fact plays into the number of medical mistakes.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach a recent study that found children born with low sodium levels crave salty foods later in life.  Another study found that pregnant women can drink up to 3 cups of coffee daily with risk of having a premature or underweight infants.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent news article regarding an upcoming BBC television show.  The show Panorama to air later outlines how the UK's largest drug company GlaxoSmithKline withheld clinical trial information.  In fact a reporter for the show actually saw an in-house memo from the public relations department that admits the clinical trials involving Paxil and depressed children did not show the drug to be effective.  In fact some studies indicate that the drug actually triples the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in some children.

Nurse JoAnn Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  JoAnn begins the show discussing the importance of eating whole foods for good health.  By 'whole foods' she's referring to "unprocessed" foods, fresh fruits and vegatables, eggs and meats.  Processed foods include canned foods asserting the canning process actually kills off the food's natural enzymes that aid in digestion.

Doug Winfrey and JoAnn Conaway discuss a recent news release regarding vaccines.  An FDA advisory panels has recommended the approval of a new 5 in 1 vaccine for young children.  The new vaccine made by Sanofi Pasteur is meant to help prevent diptheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio and bacterial infection caused by Haemophilus influenza type b.  The later known to cause meningitits, pneumonia and arthritis.  The vaccine will eliminate 7 of the now 23 federally recommended shots children get before 18 months.
