Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing some of the research he has been involved with over the years. Outlining reasons why some cultures seem to routinely live longer than others. Citing a report from the government that states medical mistakes are now the third leading cause of death in America.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about antibiotics. The article points out that we now have antibiotic resistant bacteria because of over use of these drugs. Researchers at the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona found that antibiotic use can easily impact the balance and function of the immune system. By wiping out the normal populations of bacteria that are present in the gut.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing weight gain and obesity. Stating the the medical industry has failed Americans by telling us that weight gain can be controlled by diet and exercise. Contending that weight gain is caused by nutritional deficiencies.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study done by the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. Studying the billing practices of over 2500 hospitals nationwide. Finding that some services the hospitals are charging over 20 times the cost of the service. Usually services that are more high tech such as CT scans. For example hospitals whose cost for performing a CT scan is $100 the patients could be charged as much as $2850.
