Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing the failure of the Affordable Care Act. Asserting that insurance rates are through the roof with huge deductables. Contending that people need to start doing their own healthcare. Stating that people would also be able to save a lot of money as well.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about a study of post menopausal women. The study followed over 150,000 women for over 11 years. The women self reporting their weight at the beginning and end of the study. Also tracking whether the women gained weight steadily, lost weight steadily, maintained steady weight or lost weight and gained back at least 10 pounds. Finding the women who lost and gained weight were three and a half more likely to have a cardiac death.

Stating that fats are good for brain health and how the human bodies uses fats for body functions.

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article concerning a Danish study concerning heartburn medications. The study found a link between proton pump inhibitors or PPIs and ischemic strokes. Stroke risk overall was 21% greater than people not taking the drugs. Found stroke risk increased 33% for Prilosec and Prevacid, 50% for Nexium and 79% for Protonix patients.

Contending people gain weight because of nutritional deficiencies so they crave foods. Leading to weight gain as a result. Stating that through nutritional supplementation people can lose weight and keep it off.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article on a study of weight loss among women. The study found that when dieter kept track of what they were eating they were able to lose weight. If they continued keeping track of their food dieters didn't regain the weight. Those that stopped keeping track of their food they regained some of the weight back.

That is 1.3 percent of U.S. adults or 3.1 million Americans have been diagnosed with IBD. Also stating that 1.5% of adults ages 45 to 64 and 1.7% of adults ages 65 and older have been diagnosed with IBD.
