Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about cystic fibrosis. A recent study found that patients with cystic fibrosis in Canada live nearly 10 years longer than American cystic fibrosis patients. Researchers believe is because Canadians have universal health coverage and more access to care. Canadians also get a higher percentage of lung transplants. As well as in the 1970s the Canadians adopted better nutritional care.

Contending that most diseases are due to nutritional deficiencies. While congenital birth defects are deficiencies either during conception or during gestation.

One study found the success rates of in vitro fertilization goes down when transfers are done within 21 days of the time change. A 2014 study found that increase by 25% the Monday following time change compared to rates on other Mondays. Traffic accidents increase in teens following the time change. Another study found increases in strokes within days of the time change.

Researchers analyzed health surveys in 2011 through 2014 comparing cancer patients to other patients without a history of cancer. The first is a report out from the Alzheimer's Association that states the number of Alzheimer's deaths has nearly doubled in just the past 15 years. The cost of treating Alzheimer's is expected to increase from $259 billion annually at present to $1.1 trillion by 2050. Second they discuss a news story on statin drugs where a pharmaceutical analyst states that statin sales have increase significantly in the past 10 years. Doc links the together stating that the brain is made up of mostly cholesterol. Contending that statin drug use is the cause of Alzheimer's.

Things like smoking and foods that are full of free radicals. Stating that if people consume more that 100,000 free radicals daily cancer can be avoided.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about a study from Tufts University. Researchers found that in 2012 there were 700,000 deaths from heart disease, strokes and diabetes. Finding that 10 ingredients combined contributed to about 45% of those deaths. Outlining two groups of foods "good" foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, nuts, polyunsaturated fats found in oils and omega 3 fatty acids from oily fish. The "bad" foods included red meat, processed meats, sugary drinks and salt are to be limited if not completely avoided.

Contending that medical mistakes are now the third leading cause of death in the U.S. Citing the specific numbers such as 688 people a day are killed by medical mistakes. Also stating that people need to become their own health advocate doing their own tests at home.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about cholesterol and eggs. The article states that in the late 1970s doctors saw a correlation between blood levels of cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. Believing that a high cholesterol diet could lead to heart attack and stroke. So for the next forty years doctors demonized eggs and cholesterol in the diet. In 2013 a study came out that indicated this notion is wrong. In fact the human body needs cholesterol to make hormones.
