Monologue

Dr. Wallach discusses a recent news story regarding processed meats.  A review of 15 studies found that consumption of processed meats increases the risk of stomach cancer by 15%-38%.  Dr. Wallach has been warning people for years that processed meats such as; lunch meats, sausages, ham, bacon etc. are not good for the health of the human body.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of news stories.  The first concerns a story about clinical drug trials and the lack of volunteers.  There are currently over 400 cancer drug trials in progress but there aren't enough volunteers for several of  the trials.  Doug also mentions a news story concerning the antioxidant qualities of blue berries.  In fact the news story states that wild blue berries have nearly one and a half the antioxidant capacity as cultivated blue berries.  The article also states that the National Cancer Institute has long known that antioxidants may slow and possibly prevent many cancers.  Doug asks the question "if this is known then why do we need another 400 drugs"?

  • Miki has a cat with tumors.
  • Richard has a limited income and asks Dr. Wallach for an outline of a basic supplement plan.
  • Ralph has some minor blockages of heart arteries and is experiencing angina.
  • Judy asks Dr. Wallach to outline where she can find information about alternative medicine schools.
