Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a FDA advisory panel ruling on an osteoarthritis pain medication. The drug called Synvisc made by Genzyme Corp. is used to alleviate pain in the knee. It is a once every 6 months injection directly into the knee. The drug is actually hyaluronic acid extracted from chicken combs. Dr. Wallach has been recommending a similar treatment for nearly 15 years, but without the injection.
