Monologue

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the ever widening problem of childhood obesity.  A recent article in the Journal of the American Medical Associtation contends that there is no end in sight.  The article then goes on to say that the only way to deal with this problem is with stomach banding procedures.  In this procedure the stomach is banded to make it significantly smaller thus less food and hopefully weight loss.  Doc disagrees outlining several of the short cominng invovled with the stomach banding procedure.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a research study from Canada on vitamin D3 deficiencies.  This study found that children found to have the lowest blood levels of vitamin D were more likely to later test positive for MS (multiple sclerosis) than those with higher levels of the vitamin.
