Monologue

Nurse Joanne Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Joanne starts the show discussing her background as a nurse.  She then discusses a recent news article regarding the ingredients in ice cream.  According to the article many of the cheaper ice creams contain chemicals that are also found in anti-freeze and even some that are used to clean leather products.  Joanne suggest either making your own ice cream or at the very least read labels.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Joanne Conaway discuss a CDC report that outlines a dramatic increase in the length of ER visit wait times.  In 1996 the average wait was around 38 minutes now the wait time is closer to an hour.  Experts contend that the increase is due to more people going to the ER for "non-emergency" issues and also a decrease in the number of emergency departments.
