Monologue

Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Ben starts the show discussing the most recent recommendation from the American Dermatological Association regarding sun screen application.  The ADA is recommending that people should put an amount equal to that of men using shaving cream in their hand and then slather it on.  Ben disagrees calling sun screens poison that should be avoided.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a recent British study that found vitamin D supplementation in young children lowered their risk of later developing type 1 diabetes.   An analysis of current research indicated that those infants who were supplemented vitamin D had a 29% lower risk of developing the disease than those who did not supplement.
