Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss several recent news stories.  First Doug outlines a story where hospital administrators now refer to patients as "customers".  Next Doug and Doc discuss a story that covers the practice of "institutionalization" for people with developmental disorders such as Downs syndrome, retardation, cerebral palsy and autism.  In the 1950's and 60's doctors often told the parents of newborns with these disabilities to "give the baby to the state and forget about it".  Another story discussed regards the recent prosecution of a doctor who accelerated the death of a man with drugs so he could harvest the man's organs.
