Monologue

Dr. Wallach discusses a recent news story concerning prescription heart burn drugs.  A new study has found a link between drugs such as Nexium, Prevacid and Prilosec and an increased risk of hip fractures.  Researchers speculate that with reduced stomach acid people don't absorb as much calcium so their bones are weaker.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a recent study on prostate cancer.  A study by the American Cancer Society and the Duke University Prostate Center found that men who lost 11 pounds or more reduced the risk of an aggressive form of prostate cancer by nearly 42%.
