Monologue

Nurse JoAnne Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  JoAnne starts the show discussing hospital contracted infections.  Outlining that according to the CDC 90,000 Americans die anually from these infections.  Noting that most of the infections are passed on from surfaces such as TV remotes, phones, door knobs, table tops etc.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and JoAnne Conaway discuss a recent news article regarding vaccines and school children.  A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that children who were vaccinated as part of a school program had fewer flu symptoms, less doctor visits and used less medications than children who did not get the vaccine.
