Monologue

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing a recent research study that found too many angioplasti procedures are performed each year.  Over 1.2 million of these are done each year and the study found that they did not reduce heart attacks or diminish heart pain any better than drug therapies.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach continue discussing the angioplasti study.  Doug pointing out that the procedure costs between $30,000 and $40,000 and at 1.2 million procedures that's more than 36 billion anually charged by doctors and hospitals.  Doug also discusses a recent study on food allergies.
