Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two recent research studies.   The first study done in Britain found a higher incidence of breast cancer among women who ate the most red and processed meats.  The second study done at Duke University found that overweight employees had more injury claims and more lost work days than those workers who are not overweight.

Dr. Wallach discusses the 15 million casualties in the medical industy each year in the United States.  Outlining various strategies to avoid being part of the medical industry.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of news articles concerning the nation's food supply.  One article outlined the fact that ingredients imported to put in foods are rarely ever inspected.  The U.S. is currently importing more and more products from countries like China, Mexico and India.  These countries have had the most products fail inspections than others when the inspections are done.  The second article concerns the FDA's investigation into the tainted pet foods.  Some FDA officials now believe it is possible the melamine was intentionally put into wheat and rice glutens to boslter the perceived protein levels.

Pharmacist Ben Fuchs fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Ben starts the show discussing a recent news article where the AMA says that vitamins aren't good for you and could possibly kill you.  Ben disagrees and points out various reason why the human body needs vitamin supplementation.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news story regarding a recent research study.  The study was a meta-analysis of 20 previous studies and concluded that chondroitin supplements do little in any good for joint pain.

Nurse JoAnn Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  JoAnn begins the show outlining her background and what led her to become a Youngevity associate.  She also discusses a web site recently created by an artist.  The site is intended to appear to be a pharmaceutical drug web site for a drug called "Havittol".  Basically spoofing Americans need and want for a "silver bullet" one pill fix-all for their ailments.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and JoAnn Conaway discuss a recent news article regarding research done in two different continents.  The research upholds earlier studies that indicate HRT (hormone replacement therapy) increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancers.  One study was done in the U.S. and the other done in the U.K.  The British study found that compared to those not on HRT the therapy increased the risk of ovarian cancer 20%.

Dr. Wallach discusses the Virginia Tech campus shooting.  Outlining the fact that the shooter had previously exhibited behavior that should have been a red flag to school administrators.  Doc asserts that violent behavior is often a result of nutritional deficiencies.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent news story regarding an FDA advisor.  The advisor a Dr. Victoria Hampshire is a veteranarian who was analyzing data concerning the heart worm preventative Proheart 6 made by drug giant Wyeth.  She outlined data regarding an exceedingly high number of deaths among dogs who had been given the drug.  Wyeth officials argued the data was faulty but did eventually make the largest pet drug recall in history on Proheart 6.  Nearly two months later a Wyeth CEO had a private meeting with then FDA commisioner Lester Crawford telling him about possible "conflict of interest" issues concerning Dr. Hampshire.  With close on the heels of the Vioxx debacle Hampshire was summarily reassigned to a meanless job within the FDA.

Dr. Wallach briefly mentions the Virginia Tech campus shooting.  Asserting that these kinds of people are predictable if you know what to look for before a bad incident occurs.  Doc then discusses the recent death of entertainer Don Ho, who died this week from a heart attack.  Prior to the heart attack Ho had a pace maker installed and under went stem cell therapy.  Doc asserts that if the entertainer had been given the right nutrients he might still be singing "Tiny Bubbles".

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two recent news stories.  The first concerns a doctor in Oakland, CA whose license was revoked for failing to properly treat a heart attack victim.  Second Doug mentions the most recent attempt by the FDA to make vitamins, minerals, herbs and other forms of alternative health care more controlled.
