For Charlie Freedman: A bad joke and a simple question. I spoke to you about a week ago and I may be your most distant listener (geographically speaking not attention span). I am writing from Rincon, PR, where I spend my winters now that I'm retired. The surfing here is great. Next week I return to Rockaway Beach, NY, never too far from the sea.

OK. The joke. Maybe not PC but applicable to this time of year. Are you aware that Abraham Lincoln was our first Jewish president? Yes, it's true. He was shot in the temple. I'm sorry, is it too soon?

Now, my question. I go through Santa Cruz about once a year, either driving through N/S, but I never heard of the "fish hook" except on KSCO traffic report. Where/what is the "fish hook"? Thank you and again I apologize for my bad joke. Sometimes, I just can't help myself.
