Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing the benefits of people doing their own healthcare. Contending the insurance companies are ripping people off with huge deductables. Stating that the medical system has failed us with medical mistakes being the number three leading cause of death in the U.S.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning the case of a five year old girl who died of an asthma attack. She went to Dr. Joanne Rowe and was turned away because she was four minutes late to her appointment. All the while Dr. Rowe knew the girl was at risk of another life-threatening asthma attack. She also didn't even asks the mother about the girl's symptoms. Her punishment was a six month paid suspension by a secret disciplinary panel.

Outlining various common health tests that can be done at home. Asserting that health challenges that can be handled at home without it getting onto someone's permanente record.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about a report out on surgical clinics. USA Today Network and Kaiser Health News did a joint investigation of surgery centers. Finding that out of the over 5600 there have been 260 deaths since 2013. Most notably Joan Rivers who died at one of these centers. Outlining a specific case of a 12 year old boy who died while having his tonsils removed. The surgery center blamed the death on "pre-existing conditions".

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing the rising suicide rates in this country. Stating that this is because of nutritional deficiencies. Asserting that in the past people put their wood ash which is minerals in gardens. The plants sucked up the minerals into the food. But now people are only getting three minerals nitrigen, phospherous and potassium.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study that is a meta analysis of 19 previous studies of Alzheimers. There were 1145 participants with 71% of them women average age 77 who were at risk of or diagnosed with Alzheimers. Separated into two groups one with people who exercised 3.5 days a week for an average of 30 to 60 minutes. The second group was comprised of people who did not exercise. The results indicated that the group that exercised specifically cardiovascular exercise did not have cognitive decline compared to the non-exercise group.
