Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing mineral deficiencies. Stating that minerals are no longer found in our foods. But contending they used to be in our soils as a result of rivers flooding valley basins. Once countries started building dams on major water ways flood control stopped the flooding of valley basins. Asserting this is why it is necessary for people to supplement their diets.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a Japanese study of nutritional deficiencies. The small study found that people who suffered anxiety or panic attacks were deficient in vitamin B6 and iron compared to healthy people. Doc asserts that all 90 essential nutrients are necessary for proper brain health.

Researchers are finding that many dementia patients in care facilities are being over medicated with antipsychotic drugs. Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing home healthcare. Asserting that most medical tests done in a doctors office can be done safely and inexpensively home. This will prevent patients being labelled as "type 2 diabetic" for example. Which could lead to people having higher insurance payments.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study of diet sodas. Researchers analyzed ten years worth of data for more than 4300 people. Finding those diet consuming one diet artificially sweetened daily can triple the risk of a ischemic stroke. Compared to non-diet soda drinkers those drinking diet sodas also have an increased risk of dementias and Alzheimer's.

Offering Crisco from Proctor & Gamble as a "healthy" alternative. Leading to decades of people being prescribed statin drugs to lower cholesterol.

Researchers from Stanford University School of Medicine are warning women to be wary of surgeons try to get them to have double mastectomies. The warning that unscrupulous doctors are telling women they have the "breast cancer gene". All to get them to have their breasts removed proactively to "save their lives".

Outlining a specific case of a woman who took her child to an ER after the child suffered a seizure. She purposely went to a hospital that was in network for her insurance plan. Later receiving a $3000 anesthesiology bill because the anesthesiologist was not in her network.
