The City of Salinas along with the Transportation Agency for Monterey County are planning improvements to the Old Town area. A self imposed business tax and measure x funding will be used to add platers, improve sidewalks and replace streets. A meeting to discuss the project is scheduled for this Monday  at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

 

The Monterey Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team is asking the public’s help in identifying two armed robbery suspects. The unidentified men committed three armed robberies on November 29th beginning at Motel 6 in Salinas. Several hours later they robbed a Marina 7-11 before robbing a Seaside gas station just before 7 a.m. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact authorities. The Santa Cruz Port District is announcing a holiday Santa Claus will be at the harbor this weekend. Santa will show up at the harbor at 12 p.m. on Saturday.  After touring the area and local businesses Santa will board the Harbor Patrol vessel and continue on his voyage. Monterey county health officials are concerned about a possible hepatitis A outbreak.  Officials are monitoring homeless populations throughout the county after a homeless man was hospitalized with the disease. 21 deaths have been linked to outbreaks in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Santa Cruz counties.

 

Morgan Hill police arrested a man following an investigation into inappropriate touching. 36 year old Kevin Cole works as an independent sound and lighting contractor. Last Friday authorities received reports alleging Cole was inappropriately touching children during costume changes during a theatrical production at Sobrato High School. Anyone with any similar experiences are encouraged to contact Morgan Hill police.

 

(10:40) Hollister - A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of Murder and conspiracy to commit murder in Hollister.  On December 2nd, Yoon Ji’s 2 daughters filled a missing persons report for her after they spoke to their father, 49 year-old Sang Ji, and he told them their mother was in South Korea.  A search warrant was served on Wednesday and the father and 45 year-old Jung Choi were arrested, after evidence was found to suggest the missing woman was killed, however her body has not been found.  The 2 are expected to be arraigned with in the week.  

(10:020) Aptos - Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services announced that a fundraiser is being held at the Redwood Village, in Aptos this weekend.    The Holiday sip and Stroll event will have music, craft booths, wine, cider and cocoa.   The event is scheduled to take place this Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., at 9099 Soquel Drive, in Aptos.  All proceeds will benefit Aptos Adopt a Family and Jacob’s Heart. 

(10:00) Santa Cruz - The Avenue of the Flags announced that World War II veterans will be recognized during a flag raising ceremony today, for Pearl Harbor Day.  The ceremony is schedule to start at 5:15 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Elks Lodge, 150 Jewell Street, in Santa Cruz.  A dinner will follow the ceremony.  Veterans are encouraged to RSVP by calling:  831-423-8240.
