Rescuers  are  working  to  bring  an  injured  woman  up  from  Davenport  Beach.    That  after  she  fell  about  100  feet  this  afternoon. 

A  35  year-old  man  died  yesterday,  while  saving  his  young  son  from  drowning  at  a  Morgan  Hill  pond.    The  father was  able  to  successfully  get  his  4  year-old  son  out  of  deep  water  and  hand  him  off  to  safety,  before  sinking  to  the  bottom  of the  pond  near  Ogier  Avenue.

(11:15)  The California Highway Patrol reported that one person died during a single car crash near Salinas on Saturday.   The driver was traveling westbound on Highway 68, just west of the Laureles Grade, when the vehicle veered off the shoulder and hit a metal sign and guide pole head-on.   The driver and the passenger in the front seat were transported to the hospital for minor injuries, but the passenger in the right rear seat died at the scene.

(11:00) Watsonville - The Watsonville Police Department is holding an emergency office plan workshop later this month.   Topics will include: what should offices do in case of a fire, active shooter and earthquake.  The workshop will from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27 at the Watsonville Elks Lodge, located at 121 Martinelli Street.   Cost is $35 for Pajaro Valley Chamber members, $40 for non-members.   To RSVP call: 831-724-3900.

 

(09:00) Soledad - Authorities reported that a 1-year-old boy that was abducted from Soledad this morning has been found safe.   1 year-old Emiliano Salinas was turned in to San Jose police, right before 8:00 a.m.   The location of the driver, who took Salinas from his home, is unknown at this time. 

 

 

(08:50) Marina - A fire broke out in Marina yesterday afternoon, after a fuse popped on a PG&E power line.   The 100 acre wildfire sparked on the East side of Blanco and the North side of Reservation Road, across from the Marina Airport.    Firefighters reported that the fire is 100 percent contained and they are currently cleaning up the area. 

 

(07:50) King City - A man was arrested in King City for possession of illegal narcotics and a loaded firearm yesterday.   Officers reported they received an anonymous tip that a person was selling drugs in the city's 700 block of Broadway.   During a search of the home police found 2.4 ounces of methamphetamine, 16 ounces of marijuana, and a loaded rifle.   34-year-old Lorenzo Velasquez was booked into the Monterey County Jail on several narcotics related charges.

(07:00) An Amber Alert has been issued for a 1 year-old boy that was abducted from Soledad this morning.  Emiliano Salinas is a hispanic child, 2 feet tall, weighs 23 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a black and white shirt and gray pants.   Salinas was last seen in 1992 white Honda Accord with license plate 6RGB061.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact authorities.
