Kay's Commentary 2008-12-05

Download File The following is a KSCO commentary. Here is Kay Zwerling.Perhaps the most destructive life-changing aspects of American society in the past 50 years has been the advent of the liberalism-created philosophy of political correctness. These arrogant rules of behavior have taken hold and have remained in our society for much too long. They are phony and should be discarded. On the Internet, there are various descriptions of the meaning of political correctness, also known as p.c. It’s an eruption of social tyranny. It’s also ugly stupid truth about offending people and guarding the First Amendment. And, also, the thin skins of p.c. make conversation a minefield. And, p.c. is also called cultural Marxism, and the new communism. And, it’s also responsible for stifling liberty and common sense. And, finally it’s called leftist bigotry. It’s astonishing that these restrictive rules of behavior have been embraced and tolerated in our society and especially in all of Europe for over five decades. Now, for the really destructive aspects of p.c. I mentioned this before, it has made intellectual wimps of many elementary and high school students where competition is stifled and the achievement of excellence is a no-no because the egos of many students who can?t measure up are hurt. Poor babies. Worse than that ? history is no longer factual. It’s tampered with and changed so nobody’s feelings are hurt. Now, with regard to the damage to our military.Besides the problems encountered in Vietnam, and with regard to fighting in Iraq, many Americans feel it’s immoral for our government to listen in on telephone calls originating from outside our Country where we could intercept any possible danger to our military by our enemies. It’s more important to that p.c. crowd to be sure that their First Amendment rights take precedence over our soldiers? safety in war. Another related topic is called torture. I believe all war is torture. Waterboarding is called torture though no one ever died or was damaged for more than a few minutes of waterboarding. I wonder at the liberal compassion for the enemy who slices off the heads of American soldiers and anyone else they don?t like. Waterboarding releases information that saves the lives of many soldiers. If it saves only one, I believe it should be used. Asking our military to fight with conditions is suicide. Another d?j? vu from Vietnam. Waterboarding the enemy has proven to save many soldiers, and to withhold it is crazy. And, yes, p.c. and its displaced compassion is idiotic. If a country is at war, it must fight to win, and not fight with one hand behind its back because ?we are better than that? ? that’s a crock. How incongruous is the way of liberal displaced compassion where those of the political left will show emotional concern for the perpetrator of evil or the murderer and yet minimize and ignore the pain or death of the victim. It’s another form of callous political correctness. For KSCO, this is Kay Zwerling. copyright 2008

Kay's Commentary 2008-11-28

Download File The following is a KSCO commentary. Here is Kay Zwerling.I don?t know where this came from. Probably on the Internet, but my friend Marcia sent it to me. It’s all about the explanation of life. If you want to know about life, here it is on a laminated card, and this is what it says: On the first day, God created the dog. God said, Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes by and I’ll give you a lifespan of twenty years. The dog said, That’s too long to be barking. Give me ten years & I’ll give You the other ten back, and God agreed. On the second day, God created the monkey, and God said, Entertain people, do monkey tricks, make them laugh. I’ll give you a twenty-year lifespan. The monkey said, How boring. Monkey tricks for twenty years? I don’t think so. The dog gave You back ten, so that’s what I’d like to do, too, OK? and God agreed. On the third day, God created the cow. God said, You must go out in the field with the farmer all day long, suffer under the sun, have calves, give milk to support the farmer. I’m going to give you a lifespan of sixty years. The cow said, That’s kind of a tough life You want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I’ll give You back the other forty. And, God agreed. On the fourth day, God created man. God said, Eat, sleep, play, marry, enjoy your life. I’ll give you twenty years. Man said, What? Only twenty years? I’ll tell You what, I’ll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave You back, the ten the monkey gave You back, and the ten the dog gave You back. That makes eighty years, OK? OK, God said. You’ve got a deal. So, that’s why the first twenty years of our lives we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren, and for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everybody that goes by. You?ve just had life explained to you.For KSCO, this is Kay Zwerling. copyright 2008

Download File The following is a KSCO commentary. Here is Kay Zwerling: This is an Open Letter to our President-elect. Without a doubt, many Americans are reflecting on the elections, and how it all worked itself out. Our Country is ill, and we are apprehensive and worried ? for numerous reasons. The wonderful thing about this beautiful nation is that we could be passionate about our wishes and feelings, and can freely express our thoughts, and then have a say in choosing our leader. We the People have spoken, and you will be our President for the foreseeable future. I for one acknowledge you are my President, and hope that you will lead us in as democratic a manner as we have been accustomed to since the inception of our Country. I sincerely hope you will surround yourself with thoughtful people to help you understand what must be done to heal our nation. There have been voting irregularities, which have not been dealt with yet, and from your handlers some very troublesome actions which you must not allow to happen again. We must remain a free country, and if you change it, we will rise up against you Point in fact, when Joe the Plumber asked you a perfectly normal respectable question, your staff within 24 hours scrutinized his life hoping to diminish him as an example to not ask the President uncomfortable questions. That is not the American way It was despicable. These tactics will not work in our democracy, so please don?t let it happen again To end on a happy note, to me, with emotional tears, the highlight of the election evening was to see you and your beautiful family come out and rejoice with our nation in finally having a black President. It was a wonderful historic moment. President-elect Barack Obama, please don?t blow it For KSCO, this is Kay Zwerling. Copyright 2008

Kay's Commentary 2008-10-29

Download File Wednesday 10-29-2008, 7:00 a.m., KSCO 1080 AM radio www.ksco.com The following is a KSCO commentary. Here is Kay Zwerling: I just received some information where We the People could still make a real difference in the outcome of the November 4th election. This is about John Dini, who is a real person, who took a week to read the $700 billion plus, bailout bill of 451 pages. This is what he came up with. The U.S. Congress has done to us again and tacked on all the extra fluff that has nothing to do with bailing out the financial markets, but it is going to cost us taxpayers billions of dollars for pork barrel spending. Most of us have not read this bailout bill, and our Congress people probably did not read it either, but many of them got their earmarks payoff attached to this Bill which we and our children will have to pay off for many years. Mr. Dini takes responsibility for his letter’s content. You can make up your own mind about what you can do to prevent more future mandated larceny which is sure to come if they get away with this one. This is not a conservative or liberal, Republican or Democratic letter. This is for anyone who is angry about how our government is running or who is frustrated by a feeling of hopelessness or who feels unable to do anything about our current mess. Listen ? My name is John F. Dini. I am a small business owner in Texas, with four employees and well under a million dollars in gross revenue. I have lived in both red and blue states, on the east coast and the west. I don’t think what I have to say should offend anyone, and that’s why I’m willing to put my name on it. I believe that if we continue business as usual by returning over 90% of Congress to office, we are rewarding their arrogance, and surrendering any fantasy that our government is answerable to the people. They obviously don’t believe it, and that is why Congress has exempted itself from labor law, equal opportunity, OSHA, Social Security, and any liability. This may be our last chance to remind our elected officials that this is supposed to be a government By The People. Our Founding Fathers designed the checks and balances of government well. The Senate is supposed to change slowly, so that it provides a longer-term perspective. Returning 90% of Congress to office year after year, decade after decade, is surrendering the responsibility that Jefferson, Adams, and Washington placed in us. It confirms that Congress believes that they are untouchable. (And, I say, we know they will never vote themselves term limits because they enjoy making a lifetime career out of being in Congress.) On November 4th, vote for whomever you feel will be the better President, Senator, Governor, and for any state or local office, BUT, PLEASE, DO NOT VOTE YOUR INCUMBENT CONGRESSMAN OR CONGRESSWOMAN. It doesn’t matter who it is. It doesn’t matter who the other candidate is. Cross party lines. Close your eyes or hold your nose when you do it, but do it. In the days that are left, we can send a message to Congress that says You are not above the law! You are answerable for this mess! You still serve this country! Pass this along widely and quickly. Remember, we have only a few days left. Tell your relatives and friends. Do not vote for any incumbents. They are entrenched. And, to you John Dini ? kudos for caring so much to alert your countrymen. You are an American hero. For KSCO, this is Kay Zwerling. Copyright 2008

Kay's Commentary 2008-10-17

Download File The following is a KSCO commentary. Here is Kay Zwerling: This is called ?Where did Obama’s money come from?, and it is about Obama’s troubling internet fund-raising. This was recorded and played recently, and because I mistakenly attributed it to Maureen Dowd, an extreme liberal and no friend of conservatives, several listeners were very angry, so it was taken off the air. However, the message is important, so let’s try again, only this time generically. It was published in some New York daily newspaper recently written by some unknown writer, and it starts this way: ?Certainly the most interesting and devastating phone call I have received during this election cycle came recently from one of Obama’s campaign internet geeks ? mentioning that the internet raised thus far for Obama over $200 million, supposedly in $10 or $15 increments. This would mean around 13 million contributions, all of which should have been reported to the government. But, there is something wrong with this picture. This internet fund-raising needs a serious in-depth investigation and audit ? because the internet providers were surprisingly able to trace large sums of money coming from governments like Saudi Arabia, Iran, other Middle Eastern countries, and some even from China. It became clear that this money was coming from sources other than American voters. If indeed all this is true, we must ask ourselves ?Is it right for foreign countries, especially those who dislike us, to have an investment in who becomes our next President?? This is very scary. While almost all American media is and has been Obama admirers, they almost totally ignore McCain. That is not fair. Is it fair for Oprah to publicly promote Obama and refuse to interview Sarah Palin until after the election? Back to my giving mistaken credit to hateful liberal Maureen Dowd. One can wonder, though, while most of us are politically partisan, there could be moments when we each are confronted with the realization that something about to happen could endanger this Country we love, and we suddenly put politics aside and we become concerned that our nation should not be put in danger especially from foreign sources. Then we close ranks. This could be called political generosity. And this could be one of those moments. And, that could be why that liberal newspaper blew the whistle. So I repeat ?Is it right for foreign governments to help dictate who is to become our next President, and do they prefer Obama because surely he will be easier to deal with?? If we are judged by the company we keep, many of us are uneasy about Obama, and we wonder about his true agenda. McCain, however, has proven that he loves this Country dearly and unconditionally.
