Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Stating that there are several lawsuits set to sue companies whose replacement joints that have failed. Asserting that it's better to use nutritional supplementation to prevent the original joints from failing in the first place.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning Manuka honey. The story cites an Austrailian study that found the Manuka honey worked better than any antibiotics at killing bacteria and viruses. In fact the Manuka honey actually killed MRSA (methicillan-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Also the bacteria was not able to become resistant as it does with antibiotics.

Contending many insurance companies are going out of business because they are losing money. Because they were forced by the government to take in people with pre-existing conditions.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study of weight gain. For years it's been known that sitting and watching TV for five hours daily leads to weight gain. The new study looked at nearly 25,000 adolescents in grades 9 to 12 between 2013 and 2015. One in five in the study at least five hours daily on small screen devices such as smart phones or pads. Those using the devices for five hour or more daily are tied to a 43% greater risk of obesity.

Many cheeses like Gruyere, blue, Gouda and Parmesan are all high in butyrate which boosts metabolism which can aid in weight loss. The butyrate can reduce inflammation and thus prevent colon cancer. The protein can help build muscles because of the amino acids. The calcium in cheese can help promote healthy bones. The butyrate can also help prevent type 2 diabetes.

Doug Winfrey and Melissa Golloday discuss a news article concerning doctors and pharmacists pairing dangerous drug combinations. The article was about an investigative story by the Chicago Tribune. Sending out 15 reporters to 255 pharmacies in four states. The reporters tried to fill prescriptions for clarithromycin (an antibiotic) and simvastatin (an anti-cholesterol drug). Alone the drugs are considered safe to take. However taken in combination they can be dangerous causing muscle tissue breakdown and could lead to kidney failure and possibly death. As many as 60% of the pharmacists did not warn the patients of the potential risk.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article on olive oils. Researchers at U.C. Davis tested the top selling olive oils in California. Finding that 70% of the oils are adulterated, oxidized and rancid. Many of the oils labeled extra virgin had been adulterated with lower quality cheaper olive oils. In some cases the added oils weren't even olive oil.
