Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing epigenetics. Outlining several features from his book "Epigenetics" and stating that diseases have been proven not to genetic. Contending that congenital birth defects are due to nutritional deficiencies. Contending the mother was missing nutrients either during conception or gestation of the fetus.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a European study of coffee drinking. The study of over half a million europeans from 10 countries found coffee drinkers have a reduced risk of death from all causes. Those drinking 3 to 5 cups of coffee daily have a lower risk of developing circulatory diseases and digestive diseases. This also held true for decaffeinated coffee drinkers as well.

By either eating foods rich in efas or by supplementing with Youngevity's EFAs and EFA Plus. Asserting that there are no congenital birth defects. Doug Winfrey and Ben Fuchs discuss a news article about a study of chemotherapy. Researchers tested 64 testicular cancer patients with 22 getting chemotherapy following surgery the other 42 patients did not get chemotherapy. At the beginning of the study patients were given memory and cognitive function tests. They were also given MRIs to at the start then again six months after the procedure. In the end researchers found those getting the chemo had worse cognitive function and memory. The also found those getting the chemo had severe reductions in the brain's network capacity.

Australia is now coming to the end of it's flu season. The vaccine they used was only about 10% effective as it did not match the virus that was circulating. So experts are warning that there may be a severe outbreak of flu in the U.S. this season.

Using computer modeling and national data from the government researchers found 57% of children ages 2 to 19 in 2016 will be obese by the time they are 35 years old.The current percentage of people obese now at age 35 is 35-40%. Around 6% of U.S. children, 4.6 million already have a BMI above 35.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing the 200 club. Describing a group within Youngevity that are wanting to live to be 200 years old. Explaining that a Canadian study found that given the right nutrients cells could stop telomere shortening when dividing. Previously it was thought that a cell could only divide 51 times before it dies.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about the sugar industry. Apparently the Sugar Association commissioned a study in 1970 that found rats fed a diet high in sugar had an increased risk of heart disease and bladder cancer. Before the study was completed it was halted by the sugar industry. Much like the tobacco industry hid the knowledge that tobacco causes cancer.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding new research on cancer. Find that nearly half of all cancer deaths in U.S. are blamed on unhealthy behavior. The study found 25% of cancer deaths and 42 percent of diagnosed cancer cases are caused by what the authors call "modifiable" risk factors. Risks not inherited but caused by behavior that can be changed. Such as sun exposure, not eating enough fruits and vegetables, drinking alcohol and smoking.
