Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a Danish study of fish oil supplements. The study found that pregnant women who supplemented with fish oil capsules in the last three months of pregnancy. Their babies were almost 31% less likely to develop asthma in their first three years of life compared to women who took a placebo.

Including ones used to treat MRSA (methicillinhy-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) superbugs. In fact 70% of antibiotics used to treat human infections are also used in meat production.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing cystic fibrosis. Outlining the story of how he discovered that the disease in not genetic as had been previously thought. As he was able to create the disease in monkeys and then reverse the symptoms. When he brought his research to his supervisors at Emory University they didn't agree with his research and fired him. Decades later the university released a paper stating that an unnamed researcher had made the discovery that cystic fibrosis is a nutritional deficiency.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding statements recently made by the FDA. The FDA report states that Kelloggs Frosted Flakes are healthier than an avocado. This because the avocado has 4.5 grams of fat in an ounce serving. While the Frosted Flakes has zero fat. They also state that Spaghetti-Os are healthy because there is only 1 gram of fat per serving. Pop Tarts are also healthy because they are low fat.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing joint replacements. Citing Harvard studies that concluded joint replacement surgeries are useless. Stating that there are several lawsuits set to sue companies whose replacement joints that have failed. Asserting that it's better to use nutritional supplementation to prevent the original joints from failing in the first place.

The story cites an Austrailian study that found the Manuka honey worked better than any antibiotics at killing bacteria and viruses. In fact the Manuka honey actually killed MRSA (methicillan-resistant Staphylococcus aureus). Also the bacteria was not able to become resistant as it does with antibiotics.

Contending many insurance companies are going out of business because they are losing money. Because they were forced by the government to take in people with pre-existing conditions.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study of weight gain. For years it's been known that sitting and watching TV for five hours daily leads to weight gain. The new study looked at nearly 25,000 adolescents in grades 9 to 12 between 2013 and 2015. One in five in the study at least five hours daily on small screen devices such as smart phones or pads. Those using the devices for five hour or more daily are tied to a 43% greater risk of obesity.
